I attended a watercolour workshop on the 11 and 12 of this month at the Peterborough Regional Art Centre. The photo is of Graham W Smith applying colour in the first stage of his painting.

Sun, sheep and dust

It was just on dusk last night while out for my evening walk. With the last rays of the day falling behind the eucalyptus trees I noticed the sheep grazing the stubble leaving a wake of dust in their path. I quickly took this snap to post on my blog. Click on the image for a larger view.

Holiday Photos

Mmm yes well, no drawings done during my holidays to show off but perhaps a few photos from our destination might keep the sharks away. I have one as a wallpaper on my computer and you are welcome to do the same.

Glassine Paper

I have found a small piece of glassine paper especially helpful when mounting my work with hinging tape. I am able to press the tape onto the back of the pastel paper without fear of damaging my painting. The image below will show you what I mean. Always clean the glassine paper with a dry cloth before moving it onto a new area of a pastel.


Beware: Never drag glassine across your painting as it will smudge the work.

Today will be my last posing for a little while as my husband and I leave for a holiday tomorrow morning.

The last two days have been busy packing clothes and food for our time away. Thanks goodness we have family living on the farm with us so that we don’t have to worry about our animals during such a hot period.

Drawing a fisherman

Some take pleasure in fishing as my husband does but for others they may prefer to draw them as I do. This is the drawing as promised yesterday that is meant to be a representation of body movement. The folds in the clothing as well as the flexing of muscle show this. It was one of my exams that I finished last year. I was chuffed when I received an “A” for this drawing as well as the one of my son in yesterdays posting. I hope you enjoy them.
