I do enjoy working from a detailed drawing with this one no exception. I guess that is the realist painter in me that seems to have me by the jugular and isn't going to let go. I will never become a photorealist artist because I don't have the desire to spend anymore time on a painting than I already do.

Anyway I don't think that I would get paid for the hours that I would have to put into photorealism work. So many viewers of my work in real life are surprised that up close to my pastels, it is in fact not like a photo, as they thought when standing back, but made up of many marks with some more realistic than others; depending on what I want them to see in focus.

Between finishing two paintings started at Wilpena Pound and cooking for shearers on the family farm, I did manage to start this work in progress (WIP) since I have returned home. Amid packing paintings for shipment, more cooking for shearers and a funeral of a dear artist friend on Monday who has been my mentor from the very beginning of my journey with art. You can see some of his work here. I also have a shopping day Tuesday in readiness for our sons wedding later this month and because of all of this the next few days will have spasmodic posts to this blog. This isn't a promise but may get the odd photo up on SnapShots during that time.

Hi Susan,

I am fascinated by your technique and process. I so enjoy seeing your work at various stages. I see something, sure looks good to me, then next day I see and image that almost looks like a whole new painting because of the changes in light you have created.

Enjoying very much!

So glad you enjoy it Daine.

It is good to know that there is interest in my 'work in progress' because this blogs resource is quite a bit about my studio works with many planned over the next twelve months.

Let's have an update then! ;)

Thanks for posting on my blog about 'the patient' - it was much appreciated.

It is good to see from your post Katherine that 'the patient' is now on the mend. It is terrible about all those fires that you also mentioned. I actually did want to have this last painting finished this week. I don't know if you follow my SnapShots blog. Anyway I mentioned that we have had a flood on our property. Since that happened my husband and I have been busy mopping up. My son who is getting married tomorrow, well his home ended up with some water damage and ours a very close call with water lapping the lower door frame. We have lost crops to hail as well as fences and still finding things that have to be fixed ASAP. Our daughter is due for who her first baby (our first grandchild) on Sunday. Gee this is nearly a post on its own but truly things at the moment are just beyond my control because I am falling into bed total exhausted, the days are so long with still not enough hours that we need.

I keep thinking that just a few more days and things will be back to as normal as can be. That is what keeps me going. :D
