Wilpena Golden Glow

WilpenaUnframed: 280mm x 410mm

Watercolour has wonderful transparency qualities with a mind of its own for the inexperienced artist.

Watercolour isn't one of my strongest mediums to work with but chuffed how this painting turned out when painting it in and around my jobs over the last few days; in fact the flow of paint helped relieve a lot of stress rather than add to it. biggrin

The countdown is well and truly on now before my husband and I leave for our holiday..... two more sleeps then we meet up with two other families with their caravans in tow. Hopefully I will be all packed in time to head down that road with our own caravan in tow. (for some overseas readers the link will explain what type of caravan I am talking about razz )

Wow, this one is amazing Susan.

I used to do watercolors, but I soon realized that I would go no where with it. I am glad I shifted to other mediums.

Hi Susan, as you know, watercolor is my favorite medium and I think, you have done a wonderful job with this painting. It really glows.

I am so envy, that you are on the way to your holiday trip. We just did our vacations to Netherlands also with the Caravan and we spent 10 days there at the Ocean. A wonderful time and now we are back. On one side I love to be at home with all the hills and mountains around us, but I am already missing the Ocean and the feeling of vacations in our caravan.
I wish you a wonderful time.

Susan, it's just beautiful. I really love your landscapes in general but I am in awe of anyone who can make watercolours do what they want them to! My control crazy self could never cope with the way they like to do their own thing :) This is just beautiful!

I hope you have a lovely trip away and can't wait to see all the photo's! :)

Pencilwizard thank you for commenting and your lovely words, it is very much appreciated.

Thanks Vyoma, I am lucky enough to be around watercolour artist that are part of the same network of artist that I am involved with. Watching them work inspires me to give it a go. At this stage I am not sure how far I will take the medium.

Doris Joa thanks for your wonderful words as coming from you I am more than chuffed about it now. :D

I have a saying, 'Mountain Range out the back door and the Ocean out the front door would be a perfect place for retirement'. Shame it isn't going to happen to me though... ;)

Diane...thanks and we will!

Wendy It is all about negative space and I think from reading your blog you are finding out about that yourself in your larger works.. ;)

Oh not forgetting to guard the white of the paper, as if your life depends on it!!! LOL
